EURES celebrates 30, EURES Slovakia 20 years
By joining the EU, the European labour market has opened to Slovaks and the EURES Slovakia network has begun to fulfil its mission, which is to connect jobseekers with European employers.
EURES – The European Network of Employment Services celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. Since Slovakia’s accession to the European Union on 1 May 2004, Slovak EURES Advisers have been continuously fulfilling their mission and helping Slovak citizens to find employment in Europe. Over two decades, EURES in Slovakia has become an invaluable tool for free assistance not only for jobseekers but also for employers from all over Europe and is an important source of information on the European labour market.
How does EURES work in Europe today?
EURES is a network of more than 1,000 Advisers based in all EU/EEA Member States and Switzerland. It offers a wide range of services, from assistance in finding a job or suitable staff, providing information on the European labour market, to advice and financial support for job mobility.
EURES brings a number of benefits to jobseekers:
- access to a wide range of verified job offers across the EU;
- support in finding a job that matches their skills and interests;
- advice on the free movement of workers, living and working conditions in European countries, as well as practical advice on creating a CV and preparing for an interview;
- financial support when moving to another EU country.
EURES offers employers:
- access to a wide range of jobseekers from across the EU;
- assistance in recruiting workers with the necessary skills and experience;
- information on the European labour market;
- advice on employment legislation in the EU.
EURES in Slovakia
In the 20 years of its existence, EURES has undergone incredible development. The number of clients who used its services increased from year to year. The portfolio of activities was expanded, the functionalities of the website were improved, and information channels were added, through which the network spread awareness of its existence and thus made it easier for clients to access its services.
